Justin Gilzene (CLUB BUM ) residing from Gun Hill Rd in the Bronx, NY.
As a Contemporary Visual Artist, my style incorporate the use of Acrylic Paint in the building of textures & Hand crafted sculptures within my work. Pop Cultural & Historical references are some key visuals that are incorporated. As well as having a Culinary Arts degree & 8 years Teaching experience working as an Art teacher for Harlem Children Zone & ( The D.O.E) from teaching pre-k all the way to high school. I also mix in the science of culinary into the craft of my art.
I focus on the miseducation & the misconceptions within our culture & of our people ( individually/collectively ) dealing in the past, present, & future. With the purpose to help reconnect back what's been distorted beyond reality within our herstory/history.
The Re-memory & extensive studying of ancestral knowledge & information are all themes focused within my work.
The origin around my misconception Art style is about mastering the art of self control & detachment 💫 The textured distortion which I build up/sculpt with thick acrylic paint. Represents how much society distorts our love, intelligence, power, grace, dominance, elegance.. the list goes on. Even dealing with ourselves we go so many emotions & experiences and having to balance it all out. Nonetheless, throughout all of that we still remain intact within ourselves and culture and turn out beautifully.
I also incorporate my hand crafted acrylic roses that’s a key signature within my work. The red roses are mainly key because of the embodiment I put within it. The red flowers represents - the blood of our ancestors, no matter which generation or time we will forever blossom and outgrow anything within our soils.
The meaning behind my CLUB BUM is every single one of us is a walking Billionaire Under Manifestation. When you take into account in how much we value ourselves individually and collectively as a whole.
